Women's Leadership Conference keynote presentation Streaming versions of Dr. Bettis' "Be Nice! Women and the Politics of Nice" keynote presentation
Exploring Your World, Charting Your Future Friday, October 19, 2007 8:30 am to 6:30 pm Idaho Commons Building U of I Moscow campus
The University of Idaho's Women's Leadership Conference will honor the contributions and journeys of all women in higher education: students, staff, and faculty. Our intent is to inspire, educate, and motivate women in the university community as you identify your personal and professional goals, and chart directions to attain these goals. Sessions will focus on exploring the worlds of work, career, and life, with a practical skills-based approach to addressing issues of equity, diversity, and leadership, while simultaneously mapping out a course for your future. The University of Idaho Women's Center and Athena, the UI women's professional association, are proud to offer this conference that has been sponsored by University of Idaho President, Tim White. For University of Idaho staff, upon supervisor approval, conference attendance will be considered professional development time as granted by President White.
The conference will include an opening reception with words of welcome by Dr. Dene Thomas, President of Lewis and Clark State College. A light continental-style breakfast will be served. A luncheon buffet will also be provided at no cost to conference attendees, featuring keynote speaker Dr. Pam Bettis of WSU, who will be introduced by U of I President Tim White. Her talk is entitled "Be Nice! Women and the Politics of Nice". Pre-registration is required for attendance at the luncheon, and seating is limited. The conference will close with a reception featuring beer and wine (proof of age required), hors d'oeuvres, musical entertainment, and a gift basket raffle.
Please note that pre-registration for the conference is highly recommended in order to guarantee your place in the workshop(s) of your choice. Registration for workshops will be permitted on the day of the conference on a space-available basis only.
